Installation Instructions for the RBC55 Compatible Replacement Battery Pack into Tower UPSs:

1. Grasp the top edge of the bottom front cover and tilt it out. There are grooves at the top left and top right of the bottom cover which you can grasp to tilt out the cover.

2. Unhook the bottom section of the front cover from the chassis and set it aside.

3. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to remove the two battery door screws located at the top left and right of the battery door. Open the door.

4. Grip the white string or grey connector on the front set of batteries and pull firmly to disconnect the connector from the battery compartment.

5. Pull the white cord on the front battery connector to remove the batteries.

6. Set aside the foam spacer located between the batteries.

7. Reach into the battery compartment and grasp the white cord on the other battery connector. Pull firmly to disconnect the connector and remove the second set of batteries.

8. Slide the first set of new batteries into the unit. Hold the connector down below the top of the batteries and toward the front of the UPS. Otherwise the battery pack will not fit. Guide the connector over the top of the batteries and press firmly to connect it to the rear connector of the battery compartment (located at the top).

Please Note: Small sparks at the battery connectors are normal during connection.

9. Set the foam spacer against the rear batteries to prevent the wires from being pinched.

10. Slide the second set of batteries in to the UPS, guide the connector over the batteries and press firmly to connect it to the front connector, located at the top.

11. Close the battery door, replace the screws, and replace the lower front cover.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many RBC55 battery sets do I need to replace the batteries in the SUA2200?
The SUA2200 uses 1 RBC55 set. The one RBC55 set consists of all the battery packs needed to replace the batteires in one SUA2200.

Does the replacement battery set come assembled with the fuses and harnesses or do I have to assemble it on my own?
The RBC55 replacement battery set comes fully assembled. All you need to do is install the batteries into the UPS.

I have the SUA2200XL and the SUA48XLBP extended run time battery pack, how many RBC55 battery packs do I need to buy?
The SUA2200XL uses (1) RBC55, the SUA48XLBP uses (2) RBC55's. For each additional SUA48XLBP, another (2) RBC55's will be needed.

Can I replace the batteries in the UPS without having to shut it down?
Yes, the UPS offers hot swap capability. The battery pack can be replaced without having to shut down the UPS.

I replaced the batteries in the SUA3000 but the replace battery LED won't turn off, how do I clear the error?
To clear Replace Battery LED, a valid self test needs to be performed. For a Self Test to be valid, these conditions need to be met: Minimum of 4 bars on the battery graph and/or the unit must have been charging for 8 hours from the last low battery condition.

How to initiate a Self Test once the above conditions have been met:

1. Hold the TEST button on the front of the UPS for a minute
2. Use PowerChute to initiate a Self Test
3. Use the interface of a SmartSlot Management card (ie AP9606, AP9617, AP9619, AP9630, AP9631)
4. Restart the UPS

If after trying the above procedures the condition still exists, please contact us and we will help you troubleshoot and clear the error.

I removed the old batteries from our SUA3000XL but can't get the new batteries to fit inside the battery bay. I measured, the size is the same, but they won't fit.
Make sure the wiring harness is on the top and towards you when inserting the batteries. Make sure to hold the wire harness down so it does not get stuck on the top of the battery compartment when inserting the battery pack in to the battery compartment. This is the only way to properly install the batteries in to the UPS.
