The Safewatch QuickConnect is an alarm system manufactured by ADT to provide added security against emergencies like fire and burglaries. It has a backup battery that looks like this to make it operational despite a power outage. It recharges once the house electricity is on but it requires replacing after 3-5 years.
If you start hearing a beeping sound and you notice that the keypad displays “LOW BATT” with no zone number, that means the backup battery power is drained. Press any key to turn off the beeping sound. To recharge the battery, turn on the AC power. If 48 hours have passed and the low battery warning is still there, it is time to replace the battery.
To install new batteries, Safewatch QuickConnect, follow these steps.
- Buy the replacement battery for the Safewatch QuickConnect.
- Put the alarm system on test mode.
- Look for the control panel box in a closet, attic or garage. Open it to access the battery.
- Disconnect the battery starting with the black wire then the red wire. Use pliers with insulated handles to grip the connector and pull it out of the terminals. If it is too tight, wiggle it to loosen. Do not tug on the wires. BE CAREFUL when you remove the battery to avoid a short.
- Remove the plastic cover on the terminals of the replacement battery. Connect the red wire to the red positive terminal first before you connect the black wire to the black negative terminal.
- Close the control panel box.
- Let the replacement battery charge for 1-2 days. If the low battery warning is still on after 48 hours, call the alarm provider. There might be a problem with the system.
- Recycle the old battery to dispose it properly.
