We dedicate this post to all the wonderful people we meet through our battery business, and on this blog. We hope you have a truly Happy New Year this 2018, and success in achieving your business and personal goals. Last year was eventful in many, sometimes-unexpected ways. We do not expect the roller coaster to slow down any time soon.
Will 2018 Be a Happy New Year for Batteries?
We saw some amazing developments in battery technology during 2017. Although to be honest, these could take years to be ready to go to market. Electric cars are largely driving the stampede, if you’ll excuse the pun intended. However, their batteries are ‘not there yet’ when it comes to miles per charge.
The problem with spontaneous ignition has not gone away completely. We are hoping an electric car battery did not cause a fire in the Liverpool, England parking arcade on New Year’s Eve. It could hardly have been a Happy New Year for the fellow hoping to fetch his car on the sixth floor. The Liverpool Echo says a firefighter told him to ‘have a couple of drinks’ instead. Thankfully. nobody was harmed.
We Want You to Have a Safe New Year Too
We read a post yesterday in the Kaplan Herald concerning a man in Gunbarrel, Boulder County, Colorado. He had some old batteries in a bucket in his garage. When they ignited spontaneously they set nearby rags and cleaning solvents afire. Anything involving electricity can potentially harm us. Please take care out there.
Please be careful with Christmas lights, especially when close by anything flammable. This is particularly true of a Christmas tree that’s drying out. Keep the water in the bucket topped up. If the needles start falling, turn the power off and plant the tree in the snow. We want you to focus on having a truly Happy New Year this 2018, and wonderful success in all you do.
