We’d like to begin this post by wishing you Happy Holidays and a Happy New Years! Our form of gift to you is a post about a new addition to the Solar Splash competition 2018!
A Brief on Solar Splash
Solar Splash is an event that brings together teams from international and national colleges to compete for the title of best manipulator of the sun! The duration of the competition is five days and it takes place in June. Its purpose is testing workmanship, endurance, speed and resourcefulness. The competition will be multiple races/challenges as well. These include the Solar Slalom, the Solar Endurance and a 300 meter race.
The competition provides many awards for the teams such as the design and innovation awards. However, this year it includes the addition of the Solar Splash video award!
Video Award:
Every year, the teams are asked to produce a written and visual display to describe their boat creation journey for the Solar Splash competition. As it is the 25th annual Solar Splash competition, the teams are invited to share their journey in a video format! There are no specific styles but these videos may include team member interviews, drone footage, stop motion techniques, candid moments, and live video of
past events. This is an optional award. However, if you do create a video, you are encouraged to use it as part of your team’s visual display.
Criteria:
If your team would like to apply for the video award then they must go by the following rules:
- The video must be between 1-4 minutes long;
- It must contain no profanity or inappropriate language;
- The video must have attributions to all materials used to avoid copyright infringement;
- Promoting your school and acknowledging your team’s sponsors is fine, but do not
make your video an overt advertisement; - Upload your video to YouTube and send the link to Solar Splash Headquarters at
hq@solarsplash.com. The video’s deadline is 5 pm Eastern Standard Time, Tuesday, May 29, 2018.
Thanks for reading! We hope you consider applying for the award!
